Ownership transfer in Shopify Plus with Organization Settings

You can transfer the ownership of a store or an organization in your Organization Settings. For organization ownership, you can only transfer it to users in your organization. If you want to transfer the ownership of your organization to someone without a user account in your organization, then you must invite them first.

Transferring store ownership in Organization Settings requires that you be the current store owner.

Steps:

  1. From your Shopify admin, click Settings.
  2. In the Organization section, click Users.
  3. Click your user name.
  4. In the Store permissions section, click next to the store that you want to transfer ownership of.
  5. Click Edit.
  6. Click Transfer ownership.
  7. Enter the new owner's email address and name.
  8. Enter your password, and then click Transfer store ownership.

Transferring organization ownership in Organization Settings requires that you be the organization owner.

Steps:

  1. From your Shopify admin, click Settings.
  2. In the Organization section, click Users.
  3. Click your user name.
  4. In the card at the top of the user profile page (the card title should indicate that you are the current organization owner), click Transfer ownership.
  5. Enter the new owner's email address. The new owner must be an existing user in the Users section in Organization Settings. You might need to re-authenticate depending on how recent your last login was.
  6. Click Transfer organization ownership.
