Configuration options, Shopify’s Transparency Report, and handling requests from public authorities

Configuration options

When you use Shopify services, you're ultimately responsible for ensuring that your business complies with the laws of the jurisdictions in which you operate or have customers.

Using Shopify alone doesn't guarantee that a merchant complies with the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR). You must analyze your own business practices to ensure your compliance. In order to assist our merchants with their compliance efforts, Shopify provides extensive configuration options.

Shopify Transparency Report and handling requests from public authorities

Shopify is committed to maintaining the trust of our merchants and their customers around the globe. We know that transparency is essential to that trust, and we want our merchants and customers to understand how we safeguard their personal information. Shopify publishes an annual transparency report of requests that we receive.

If a legal access request is made from public authorities, then Shopify follows a set of guidelines on how those requests are handled.
